The Fish Lake Sportsmen’s Club was organized and has been chartered as a non-profit organization for 58 years. A majority of the members are from the Jordan, Lydia and Fish Lake Area.
The Club was organized by sportsmen who were residents or had cottages on Fish Lake, one of the few recreational bodies of water located near Jordan. The lake itself is located about nine miles east of Jordan on Scott County Road 10.
Fewer members now live on the lake, although some of the founders of the club are still active. New members have also joined, bringing with them a variety of concerns for conserving and establishing wildlife habitat and for promoting quality outdoor recreation for young and old alike throughout the area.
The Fish Lake Sportsmen’s Club is affiliated with the Minnesota Conservation Federation (MCF). The MCF is a statewide organization comprised of sportsmen’s clubs and individuals. The organization’s main purpose is to lobby for legislation that will improve wildlife habitat and the environment.
The general purpose of the organization is the propagation and protection of fish, game and other wildlife; participation in the arts of sportsmen; and bringing the social benefits and pleasures of such activities to more people.
Projects the club has promoted and supported over the years include the following:
Complete financial support of the Jordan Area Minnesota Youth Gun Safety Education Program. This course averages 35 students per year.
